We are now looking for a Senior Electronics Engineer to join our Product Development team and play a crucial role in helping us to deliver successful products. The role will be based in our Magor, South Wales office.
Responsibilities:
- To design cost effective consumer products that meet our exacting technical and quality requirements.
- To ensure the timely delivery of fully documented working prototypes, schematics, layouts, devices etc. as required, which satisfy the technical and marketing specifications.
- Technical investigation and promotion of product concepts utilising new technologies particularly those that will/may reduce cost or improve quality in current products
- Initial development of prototype systems
- Ensure high design quality and maintainability through good practice, peer review, clear documentation, testing and thorough verification
- Electrical/Electronics system design and implementation
- Develop and test product firmware.
- To provide project leadership as required from concept through to successful handover to our implementation & design teams in Far East – travel to provide onsite support will also be required.
- Monitor and effectively communicate project status, business issues and any significant developments to senior mgt team
- Monitoring, support and compliance with internal/external hardware and firmware standards
- Strive to ensure that designs are reliable and will perform consistently across a range of operating environments.
- Source and manage external contractors as required.
Qualifications:
- Electronics degree or equivalent
- Experience ideally working on consumer related technologies
- Experience of working in small multi-disciplined teams.
- Electronic real time system design & implementation
- Firmware design using 8/16/32bit microcontrollers and associated assembler/C
- Analogue & Digital circuit design
- RF Circuit design (2.4 and 5.2/5.8GHz Proprietary, Bluetooth, WiFi standards)
- Experience of short product life cycles
- Experience of dealing with Far Eastern manufacturing
- Detailed technical investigation & promotion of Product Concepts utilising new technologies
- Methodical, detailed and structured with a strong process driven approach
- Adaptable and resilient with a positive attitude towards change
- Self-motivated and works well under pressure without supervision, constantly seeking to learn more and contribute in a rapidly changing environment.
- Willing and able to travel to Far East
- Knowledge and passion for video gaming a big plus

We are currently looking for a tester to join our Product Development team. Ideal for a passionate gamer the main focus of the role will be to carry out the testing of our innovative products in different operating environments to ensure our customers get the best possible experience when using our products.
Responsibilities of the role include:
- Compatibility testing between our products and operating environments particularly Windows 10
- Product testing within gaming environments on PC, console, mobile devices
- Testing of prototype products against detailed specifications.
- To track bugs and implement negative testing as appropriate
- Repetitive testing as necessary
- To produce test reports which accurately detail errors and bugs
- To assist with escalated technical queries passed on by our technical support team

We are looking for an experienced Software Developer to join our team and help us deliver successful consumer products. Based in our Research and Development Offices in Magor (South Wales) you will help ensure that Mad Catz remains at the leading edge of its market place, by developing software, drivers, plugins, development test tools to support our innovative products.

Responsibilities of the role include:
- To be an active and effective member of a multi-disciplinary team, developing high and low level software including a hands-on role in system specification and design, prototyping, testing, and release to production.
- To ensure the timely delivery of fully documented working prototypes, assist in the development and support of system SDKs, etc. as required, which satisfy the technical and marketing specifications.
- To work on the design and development of high quality graphical user interfaces for Mad Catz products.
- To provide full documentation of all software and control of software releases.
- To monitor external software developments and provide detailed advice on the impact for Mad Catz
- Design and development of software,drivers and game plug-ins to support Mad Catz products running on Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, Linux and Gaming Consoles.
- To ensure close liaison with the Software, Firmware, Electronics and Mechanical teams
